Pedagogical
Programme
The museum pedagogical programme offers special "excursions"
into the world of the DLM for school classes as well as groups from children’s
day-care centres and institutions for the disabled. These are guided tours
in conversational form followed by practical activity. For each occasion
the DLM’s pedagogues take the age and educational level of the participants
into account. Individual wishes can be arranged for in advance.
A special form of playful instruction in ideas and knowledge are birthday
parties. Parents invite up to 11 children of the birthday child
(larger groups are cared for by two pedagogues), together the party guests
experience especially chosen areas of the museum and can intensify the
seen and heard with their own creativity and handiwork.
During the school vacations the DLM regularly organizes holiday
games for those staying at home. For one week students have the
opportunity to get to know the life of foreign peoples such as Indians
or Africans hands on, for example building tipis and finding out about
nomadic life, cooking Indian style and trying out war paint.
So that the grown-ups do not feel left out, the DLM offers one hour-long
theme tours of all collections.
