Besides contemporary footwear fashion, the Museum exhibits the shoes premiered with Footwear Fashion Future, an international prize for upcoming designers awarded at the International Shoe Fair in Düsseldorf.
The Shoe Museum's collections also encompass the shoe as an art form. 20th century artists in particular have been inspired to treat shoes as objets d'art - for example Günther Uecker, Allen Jones, Caroline Bahr, Gisela Cardaun and Gaza Bowen.
