LINKING LEATHER

The multimedia installation on Linking Leather – The Diversity of Leather was entirely centered around the fascinating material that is leather. Visitors were able to experience the material properties of leather in an interactive way, using gesture controls to view text and images at various thematic stations, which bit by bit placed different leather varieties and leatherworking techniques in the greater context and explained them in a playful fashion. Topics such as species diversity, substitute materials, and the growing vegan culture likewise formed part of the multimedia exhibition, while a touch station offered the opportunity to experience the look and feel of different varieties of leather.

The presentation was developed in close cooperation with students under the leadership of Prof. Frank Zebner of the Design Innovation Institute Offenbach, part of Offenbach University of Art and Design (HfG).
